Denmark is one those countries where birth rate is not very high. A study done in 2011 showed the fertility rate in Denmark is 1.75 births per woman. The declining birthrate in Denmark needs to increase.
The recent effort by a Danish travel company to increase birth rate is to send a couple to romantic cities such as Paris where they could spend quality time together. If any couple could prove that the woman got pregnant during the trip, they will win a prize.
Some said this is an excellent policy to give a boost to the country’s falling birth rate. To motivate couples, the a hilarious video has been released with the tagline Do It For Denmark. The video is actually a promotional advert. Its duration is 10 sec.
Humor apart, the advert does inform something very crucial to the audiences. A large percentage of Danish children are conceived when the couple is abroad. Seems like the travel company wants to make it official by encouraging couple to do this more and more.
The prize is booked under a plan called ovulation discount. Perhaps the most hilarious thing is the prize that couple can secure by showing proof that the baby was conceived abroad. A voice-over in the video asks, “Can sex save Denmark’s future?” In the reply, “Forty-six percent of Danes have more sex on holiday.”
The Danish government had earlier acknowledged the problem. The birth rate in Denmark is at a 27 year low and the population is comprised mostly of adults. There are not enough children in this country to support the ageing problem.
After the release of the video, interview of an expert Birgit Dagmar Johansen was taken. She said when a couple goes on a holiday trip, they share beautiful experiences together and that affects their relationship as they discover each other in new lights. This results in secretion of endorphin and subsequent desire for sex.
The company to arrange this new sort of travel is called Spies Travel. Their catchline is, “Book your holiday with our ovulation discount. Get it on. And prove you conceived a child to win a three-year supply of baby stuff and a child-friendly holiday. ”
Funny thing is, the prize is 3 year supply of apparels related to baby care and vacation.
